Wind Forge IPA is Back
For this year’s iteration of the Wind Forge IPA we wanted to go softer, fruitier, and more pungent. For 2017 we experimented with hybridizing a Belgian White with American hops. This time around we focused on soft hops, soft New England style yeast, a new brewing technique, and lots of hops. This has yielded a very pleasant IPA with loads of pineapple and papaya, and a pleasant soft bitterness.
So, what’s up with all of our weird beer names and symbols? At 12 Gates we dig deep into the archives of alchemy to find names and techniques that embody our philosophy and love for brewing. The Wind Forge was an ancient furnace that violently heated the materials going through transmutation. The Wind Forge was the beating heart that made transformation possible. This was a perfect fit for a beer that spotlights our love of hops and motivates us to push the envelope further. After all, who doesn’t love a good IPA?
