Community Beer Works / 12 Gates Brewing Double IPA Collaboration
This September, 12 Gates Brewing Company and Community Beer Works (CBW) teamed up to create a beer in sponsorship of the Ales for ALS charity, which turns beer into research money to help fight ALS through the ALS Therapy Development Institute. Head brewers Shawn Kerr, of 12 Gates, and Rudy Watkins, of CBW, designed a limited, one-time only Double IPA using a very limited hop blend provided by Hop Union for the Ales for ALS charity, a national program including other breweries such as 21st Amendment, Bell’s, Cigar City, and Deschutes to name a few.
The 12 Gates/CBW collaboration Double IPA comes in at a heathy 8.5% ABV and just shy of 75 IBUs. The hop blend’s most notable hops are Mosaic and Equinox, along with several other unnamed experimental hop strains, most of which are not yet on the market.
The collaboration is presently on the market, or will be very soon, at Blue Monk, Allen Burger Venture, Cole’s, Mister Goodbar, Griffon Pub in Niagara Falls, Remington Tavern, Pizza Plant, and Moor Pat, as well as Community Beer Works. It was a very small batch, so get it while it lasts!
