New Head Brewer Announcement – Matt Gordon

If you’ve been following 12 Gates happenings lately, you’ll know that some big changes are happening and we couldn’t be more excited about the direction we’re heading. A big part of that involves our new Head Brewer, Matt Gordon. We’d like to welcome him to the 12 Gates team and let you get to know him.

Matt is no stranger to the WNY craft beer scene. He was in the inaugural class of ECC’s Brewing Program. After that, he worked at Woodcock Bros Brewing Co. for 3 years where he quickly made his way up from intern, to assistant brewer, to head brewer. We’re proud to have brought him on board to help lead our team.

Aside from his experience in the industry, he also brings discipline and ethos that align with our values and support of the military. He is a Veteran of the Army in which he served for 5 years, including a tour in Iraq. During that time and following, he traveled to 40+ states including Alaska and Hawaii.

Want to talk shop with Matt? Ask him about sports. He’s been on all sides of the action from watching, playing, refereeing, and coaching. Some sport themed beer ideas have already been tossed around so stay tuned for what’s to come.

When we asked Matt about what might be in store for 12 Gates fans soon, he tipped off that a New England Style IPA was already in the works. He’s also taken over the Randall Thursday infusions and said to look out for something spicy! As far as what he’s really excited to brew, it was a quick response of an Imperial Stout. With our annual release of Dissolution at our Anniversary Party on 12/12, that’s an obvious one to keep your eyes peeled for.

Thanks for your continued support of 12 Gates and your help welcoming Matt to the team! Cheers.
